Illness is universal but access to healthcare is not
Grace Community Health and Wellness Organization is a registered 501(c) 3 non profit organization, established on June 10, 2020, when Uganda and the world at large was being confronted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our resolve is to rise above this health crisis and focus on improving the overall accessibility, affordability, and availability of basic healthcare and wellness services in rural communities
Our initiative journey began in 2019, by carrying out a needs assessment and deep ground research on how to improve
access to compassionate, high-quality, healthcare in the rural community
that was already experiencing poverty.

Grace is a Registered Nurse in the United States who is passionate about promoting health and wellness as well as making a difference in people’s lives regardless of their background. Having grown up in Masaka District (Uganda), Grace occasionally visited her home village in Lwannume where the Grace-CHAWO initiative is established. Growing up, she witnessed people in her community living in intense poverty, which challenged many rural residents in accessing basic health-care services.
Grace shares many stories where she witnessed neighbors and friends in her village losing loved ones to preventable illnesses due to limited access to basic health-care services. With her background as a health-care worker, Grace felt a deep sense of commitment to make a difference in rural communities by promoting health and wellness particularly to the less privileged.
